Hevy alternative Gym Commitment vs Hevy
Both apps put last time's numbers right next to every set, so on the gym floor they feel alike. Where they part ways: Hevy is a social app with a feed and an account, and Gym Commitment has no account and takes its plans from ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini.
- No account to make
- iPhone and Android
- Works without an AI too

Quick verdict
Alike on the gym floor, different off it.
Go with Gym Commitment if
- You'd rather not hand over an email to log a bench press.
- You already ask ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini about training and want it writing the plan.
- You'd like a body figure that shows what you trained this week, and what you skipped.
Go with Hevy if
- You like seeing what your friends lifted, and leaving a like or a comment on it.
- You want Hevy Trainer to put a program together inside the app.
- You log from an iPad or a Wear OS watch.

What lifters say about Gym Commitment
Great little app with lots of room for future potential. Simple to understand without gimmicky features like all the other apps. Responsive team

Was useful to log in progress and have a good visual of which body muscle groups are being targeted/trained.

What Gym Commitment does differently
What's different here.

Bring your own AI
Linking takes one short code from the app, pasted into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Before writing a single exercise, it asks which days you train and what your gym has, one question per message. Then the plan shows up on your phone. You won't be copying it out of a chat window into your notes app. Hevy also lives inside ChatGPT, as an app of its own. If Claude or Gemini is your assistant, that works here too.
Change it in one sentence
Thursday got busy? Tell your AI “make Thursday shorter” and the new version replaces the old one in the app. You can also leave it a note on a lift, like “No machine here”. It reads the note with your next change.
A look back at 12 weeks
When you feel like it, share your last 12 weeks with your AI. It writes back a short report with three changes it would make to your plan. Only that report, or the finished plan, ever reaches your phone.
No account
There's no sign-up screen. You open the app and log a set. If you ever want your data somewhere else, every session and set exports as a CSV.
The muscles you skipped
A body figure lights up the sets each muscle got, for a routine or for the week so far. The weekly, monthly and yearly reports show which body parts you skipped. Usually it's legs.
Small things at the rack
The weight column tells you if a number means one dumbbell or the bar plus plates. Someone on your machine? Swap the exercise. Skip it today and it's still in the plan next week.
What Hevy does better
Where Hevy is ahead.
Training with friends
Hevy has a real social side: a feed of your friends' workouts, likes, comments and leaderboards for your gym. Gym Commitment has none of that. The most social it gets is a friend or trainer sending you a routine as a link.
More devices and languages
You can run Hevy on an iPad or a Wear OS watch as well as iPhone, Android and Apple Watch. It's in 16 languages and sends workouts to Strava. Gym Commitment is on iPhone, Android and Apple Watch, in six languages.
A program built in the app
Hevy Trainer is the coach built into Hevy, with its paid plan. You tell it about your experience, goals, equipment and preferences, and it builds a program and guides you through every session. With Gym Commitment the plan comes from your AI, which means connecting an assistant first. Some of them need a paid plan or aren't offered in every country.
A big community
Over 100,000 ratings on the App Store, averaging 4.9, and a feed full of people to follow. Gym Commitment is new and nowhere near that yet.
Your history in one account
Everything you log in Hevy sits in your Hevy account. Switch phones, iPhone or Android, sign in, and it's all there.
Moving over from Hevy
Your first week in Gym Commitment.
Download Gym Commitment from the App Store or Google Play and skip the sign-up, because there isn't one.
Copy your Hevy routine into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini and ask it to send the routine to Gym Commitment. Building it by hand works too, one day at a time. There are ready-made routines in the app if you'd rather start from one of those.
Log your first workout. From the second one on, every set opens with what you did last time.
Nothing in Hevy gets touched. Your history stays in your Hevy account, so trying this costs you nothing you've logged.
Questions
Before you switch.
Is Gym Commitment a good Hevy alternative?
If you want a gym log with no account and a plan written by ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, yes. If the feed and your friends' workouts are the reason you open Hevy, probably not. There's nothing like that here.
Can ChatGPT write a plan in Hevy too?
Yes. Hevy has its own app inside ChatGPT, and it saves plans to your Hevy account. Gym Commitment works with ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, with no account to make. See how it works.
Do both apps show last time's numbers?
Yes. Both put your last weight and reps beside each set, so you can see what you're trying to beat.
Does Gym Commitment work on Android and Apple Watch?
Yes. Android phones get the same app as iPhones, minus the watch part. With an Apple Watch you can run the whole workout from your wrist (start, tick sets, fix a weight, finish) as long as your iPhone is within reach. The Apple Watch page has every screen.
Do I need a paid AI?
For some assistants, yes, and a few aren't available in every country. The setup page has the list. You can still log every set without one.
